Aska

God morgon!

Good morning!
Our morning routine here at home usually starts with me waking up with the kids at 7am. If any one is still sleeping I’ll wake them up. After that we’ll go downstairs, i’ll do the diaper race, and watch Nyhetsmorgon (morning news show). Gillis and Sally will play around on the floor, while I’ll preper breakfast. Today we had Hönökaka (typical swedish bread) with cheese and butter. The kids will drink water and I coffee. We spend about 30 minutes eating breakfast. Gillis is a slow eater and likes to sit and talk and pick at his food for a long time. Sally is usually done before that and I let her crawl around on the floor . The best thing she knows is to look for leftover food underneath the kitchen table. Why is food so much tastier when it’s on the floor?! Odd will join us around 8am and I’ll get dressed and ready to go in 30 minutes, leaving for work at 8:30am.

Both the children are still at home during the days since Gillis still hasn’t got a spot at pre-school. He will begin when we get back from Thailand. My mom will stay home with the kids today beacuse Odd has a couple of meetings. Why can’t you give the parental benefits to other relatives? You can give VAB (child care) away but not the parental benefits. I talked to Annie Lööf about this when she was visiting us the other day and she is postive to the idea. That’s great. I mean, otherwise the mom will lose some of her income.

By the way, I do get a lot of questions about the floor in our house. We have to different types of floor; herringbone in all the rooms besides the kitchen and hallway, where it’s clinker from Pronto Kakel.

We had the same set-up in our old apartment and really liked the combination of wooden floor and grey clinker. It’s difficult to find the right color but we picked a lighter shade this time, called Aska.

My feet are ready for Thailand (we’re leaving next Thursday!) on our nice floor. All the pieces of stone are unique which makes the floor look alive. Ok, alive might be the worst description ever but you get my point. There’s floor heating in the hallway but we FORGOT to put in the kitchen. It’s a shame but thankfully it doesn’t get that cold. I think it’s because of the radiator.
